Create the Magic Behind the Curtain

Theatre is more than what happens under the spotlight — it’s also the artistry that builds the world around it.

StageCraft invites students aged 12–16 to step behind the scenes and bring stories to life through prop design, puppet making, costume creation, and set painting.
From concept sketches to hands-on construction, students will learn how visual design, texture, and creativity transform a script into a living, breathing world.

This is the perfect course for imaginative, detail-oriented students who love making, crafting, painting, and bringing ideas to life with their hands and minds.

What Students Will Learn

  • Prop and Puppet Design & Fabrication: Creating durable, functional props using safe and sustainable materials.

  • Costume Concepts: From mood boards and sketches to sewing, styling, and final fittings.

  • Set Painting: Learning structure, perspective, and design to create immersive environments.

  • Collaborative Production Work: Partnering with Stage 26 performers to support class showcases and final presentations.

Throughout the session, students will build a creative portfolio — documenting their process, design choices, and finished projects — perfect for anyone considering post-secondary theatre design or technical theatre training.

Final Presentation

StageCraft students will have their work featured as part of the Stage 26 Final Presentation in June 2026, where their designs, props, and costumes will be showcased in performance.
Families will have the opportunity to see their student’s craftsmanship shine as part of this collaborative artistic event.

Included in the Fee

  • All booking fees and taxes

  • Two complimentary caregiver tickets to the final presentation

  • All supplies and materials used throughout the course (fabric, paint, tools, etc.)

Important Enrollment Details

Due to the hands-on nature of this class, enrollment is extremely limited to ensure each student receives individual mentorship and workspace.

After registration, families will be contacted directly to confirm class details, collect emergency contacts, and discuss any allergies or material sensitivities.
